That record was previously held by Take Care, which spent 12 weeks at No. 1 after its release in 2011.
ICEMAN first reached No. 1 on the chart dated May 30, 2026, and has remained at the top for 13 weeks, making it the longest-running No. 1 album on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in Drake’s discography.
Until now, Take Care held the record. Drake’s second studio album, Take Care, spent a total of 12 weeks at No. 1 on the chart from December 2011 through 2012.
It was followed by For All the Dogs with 11 weeks and Certified Lover Boy with 10 weeks. Now, ICEMAN has surpassed them all.
The key to this record is not the Billboard 200, but the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
ICEMAN is now in its 13th consecutive week at No. 1 on the chart, holding the top spot ahead of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, which sits at No. 2.
In the latest tracking week, from August 21 to 27, ICEMAN recorded 41,000 equivalent album units in the U.S.
ICEMAN is also Drake’s 17th No. 1 album on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
That ties the all-time record for the most No. 1 albums in the chart’s history, matching The Temptations. Future has also reached the same mark.
Personally, I don’t know what makes something successful in culture anymore.
It sometimes feels like people who are famous simply for being famous are the ones carrying that success forward. Of course, I’m not denying the history they built to get there.
But the more time passes, the more I feel that audiences are becoming more superficial, allowing themselves to be guided by someone else’s opinions and gradually losing the ability to think and make judgments for themselves.
With the development of AI, I think this has only become more extreme. Being consumed by something and using it are two completely different things.
Drake’s record is impressive and remarkable, but it’s an album that personally never really resonated with me.
