Though I Am an Inept Villainess has wrapped up its first cour with 11 episodes and will continue with its second cour starting in January 2027.

As a work that broke my own preconceptions, *The Unreliable Villainess* was a series I found myself deeply immersed in, with each episode flying by thanks to its solid writing and compelling story. That makes me even more excited for the second cour.
Though I Am an Inept Villainess has wrapped up its first cour and will continue with its second cour starting in January 2027.
The official account announced the January 2027 premiere of the second cour on September 21, 2026, following the broadcast of all 11 episodes of the first cour.
The second cour will begin the second arc of the original work, “The First Journey Abroad.”
Along with the announcement, a new main visual was also unveiled.
The story of Hwang Yeong-rim and Joo Hye-wol, which unfolded primarily within the royal court during the first cour, will now expand into a new setting.
Though I Am an Inept Villainess is based on the novel by Satsuki Nakamura, with Doga Kobo handling the anime production.
It began airing in Japan on July 12, 2026, and was simulcast in Korea through ANIPLUS and ANIMAX.
In the second cour, the story moves into the “First Journey Abroad” arc, where, true to the series’ title, another incident causes Yeong-rim and Hye-wol to switch bodies once again.
In this new setting beyond the royal court, how their relationship and the characters around them will change is expected to become a key focus of the next chapter.
This anime gave me a completely new perspective and made me question some of the assumptions I had going in.
I had honestly expected it to be an anime that would appeal mostly to women based on its visual style, so I didn’t have particularly high expectations for it.
However, I came to realize that a well-written script and a tightly constructed story can go far beyond those first impressions.
It was one of those anime that made me think, “It’s a shame it ends after just 11 episodes,” while also making me wonder, “Already?” at the end of every episode.
