On September 18, 2026, Glenn Martens announced that he is stepping down as Diesel’s Creative Director after roughly six years in the role.
Martens was appointed Creative Director of Diesel in October 2020, and this decision marks the end of his tenure at the brand.
The changes Martens brought to Diesel were significant.
Building on the brand’s existing denim identity, he continued to push distressed denim, bold silhouettes, and unconventional show productions, bringing Diesel back into the fashion culture of a younger generation.
For the 2026 FW collection, Diesel also gathered around 50,000 objects used in the brand’s shows, parties, and events over the past several decades, presenting its history as one massive installation.
His final Diesel collection will be unveiled in Milan next week.
This means the upcoming season will mark Martens’ final runway show for Diesel. The brand is expected to reveal its plans for a new creative direction afterward.
He became the Creative Director of Maison Margiela in January 2025, succeeding John Galliano, and will now focus his creative efforts on the house.
Since joining Diesel, “Martens has led a profound creative and cultural redefinition of the brand, maintaining Diesel’s democratic, inclusive, and unconventional identity while strengthening its international influence, editorial authority, and product appeal,” Diesel said.
Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel and Chairman of OTB, said, “Glenn Martens’ contribution to Diesel has been truly immense.”
“Through his vision, talent, and dedication, he completely transformed the way the brand is perceived, built a strong connection with a younger generation, and laid a solid foundation for the future.
He brought Diesel back to the center of the global fashion scene while preserving the openness, energy, and accessibility that have always set Diesel apart.
We are deeply grateful for everything he has achieved.”
