Nippon Sangoku, the TV anime known for its unique world that blends Japan’s Sengoku period with China’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms, has officially been confirmed for a sequel.

The news of the sequel was announced on September 3, 2026, through a production announcement video released on the official social media accounts.
For now, the only confirmed detail is that a sequel is in production. Specific information, including the release date, episode count, and new staff members, has yet to be officially announced.

Nippon Sangoku reveals the direction of the series through its title alone.
It combines the *Romance of the Three Kingdoms* we know with Japanese history, reconstructing its characters and events in a way that differs from the original story.
While drawing on familiar names and historical motifs, the series creates a new story set in Japan, which is one of its biggest defining features.

The sequel announcement is significant in that it officially shows the possibility of expanding the world of *Japan Sangoku* even after the first story has come to an end.
Considering that a separate production announcement video was released, it can be seen as a move toward a full-fledged follow-up project rather than simply a fan-service announcement.

At this stage, however, there’s no need to speculate about the release date or story.

Nippon Sangoku was an anime I started watching without much expectation, but its writing and direction were strong enough to quickly earn a spot in my Top 5 of the 2026 Spring Season.
That’s exactly why I’m looking forward to the sequel as well.
